It’s the most wonderful time of the year….For some!
The festive season is now upon us.
Another year gone by and what did I do? What can I do better next year?
The close of another year often prompts us to reflect on our achievements, or for some disappointments, over the past 12 months. Some people may even mourn the loss of another year of their lives.
This is the time of the year to look out for each other and look after yourselves. Like an extension of RU OK day, check in on your family, friends and colleagues and really listen.
The stress that comes with the festive season can be in many forms. Hosting and attending festive parties, the pressure of family or isolation being alone at the time of celebration, financial situations – gifts, food, celebrations, reminders of loss…
Part of the reason why Christmas time can also be so stressful is the unrealistic expectation of coming together as a happy family on this one day of the year.
Significant occasions, such as birthdays and Christmas, can be difficult for a bereaved family.
It’s important to know that you do not have to be merry 100% of the time just because it’s December. We are humans raised by humans, not humans raised by elves!
Oh and once we get to and past the 25th, then you need to muster up enough energy to get to NYE!
